This little critter is handcut from two pieces of copper. The wings are textured using a steel pattern plate, the body I have rounded and formed separately. They are brazed together and that connection is, honestly, probably stronger than the copper itself. As is, she is not sanded; I don't usually sell unsanded work but, frankly, the idea of her being just a little dangerous amuses me. She is not "slice your hand" sharp, but is, perhaps "be a little careful when opening your package" sharp. I am offering an "un-dangerfy" option if you would like her fully sanded before mailing. Sanding all those little fingers takes a while, so the un-dangerfy option is also a bit pricier.
This is an art object, not a toy. There is only one of her, and will only ever be one of her. She is, unlike some of my other sculpture work, easy to dust and not subject to moths, so can be put out on a shelf or wherever you want it, and does not require a glass case. If your cat knocks her off a shelf, you'll be able o bend her back pretty easily But if someone decides her wings "flap" the metal will fatigue and eventually break just like if you mess with a paperclip too much. If you decide that this piece is seasonal decor, you should be able to pack it up with no more worry than any other piece of holiday decor, just make sure to provide enough padding that she doesn't scratch your second favourite piece.
