The body of this spider is a high quality, but anomalously bright pink, doll's eye. I found a whole bagful of these and bought them all because they are so perfectly cute/creepy/slightly off. And then I set out to find the perfect, pink frilly teacups to go with them. This is the second one, featured a spider built specifically to hold that eye, and to go with this cup; handdrawn and handcut, of course all by me. She is slimmer yet taller than most of the spiders I've been making for teacups; I cut her from thinner sheet and just kinda went all out. She has much more detailed faceparts; based on a blown up photo I decided i needed mounted on my workbench. The brass body of the spider compliments the gold edging of the cup just PERFECTLY.
This is an art object; the teacup, saucer, and spider are all permanently bonded. While I fully support displaying this piece inside your cabinet with the rest of your teacups, you cannot drink from it. It is not a toy. It is, unlike some of my other sculpture work, easy to dust and not subject to moths, so can be put out on a shelf or wherever you want it, and does not require a glass case.
