Orchid: Fishbone, Steel Chain.

Fishbone is not the strongest material we use here, by a long shot. This piece is plenty strong to wear, but it should always be stored in its own little box.

The thing with the fishbone, though, and the reason we use it even though we prefer indestructible materials is this: it's just about the most beautiful thing we've ever seen. It looks far more delicate than it actually is- it looks almost like it should float, lighter than air.

This one is made from a freakishly large vertebrae found near my old swimming hole in Tennessee. The vertebrae exhibited such a glorious, gorgeous form- light as the petals of a flower, but so much stronger. This is a slice taken from one of them, simply drilled to allow the chain to slide right through.

La Petite Mort is our series of jewels inspired by, and made with, natural elements. Each piece is designed around a found element, and thus each is new and different.
All animal products, unless otherwise mentioned, are found in the woods- while we can no promise that the animals lived long lives, we can promise that we had nothing to do with their deaths.
